Advanced Persistent Threats target information systems, while persistently attempting to identify and exploit their vulnerabilities. Their purpose is to steal stored information or disrupt the information systems' operations. They are considered to be long-term cyber security attacks, that are not technologically sophisticated. The attacker avoids detection while being persistent and tactful. APTs are serious formidable threats, especially to healthcare Information Technology systems.
